Good Morning America:
This is a new substack project and topic. And, I believe it will be very informative, insightful and, I hope, interesting.
Presently, without argument, Australia is steadily evolving as a nation, and the Indo-Pacific is enduring equally a dramatic and transformative moment in its own history.
Economically, politically, socially and geopolitically, Australia and the Indo-Pacific are simultaneously riding the powerful and rapid currents of this epochal moment.
Hence, I will write about this historic ‘dual-trajectory’ that has embraced and engulfed both entities. And what that means for the most populated region in the world; the most dynamic region of the world; and, perhaps, the most diverse at every level.
Global power is clearly and irrefutably shifting to the Indo-Pacific. As a result, the global community is already dealing with this new and quite complicated reality.
Therefore, I see my task as one who writes about new developments or crises that emerge and/or envelope this region. But, also, specifically, I see my role as an observer who continually asks, ‘Can, or will, Australia make the proper adjustments as this ‘New World’ dawns during the 21st century.
Point of fact, Australia’s ability to prosper and survive in the near future, in my opinion, will depend on its innate ability to display, implement and utilize common sense, knowledge and wisdom.
To its credit, Australia has survived for 120 years - as a Federation - so far.
Can it survive the 21st century?
